UK Housing Market EXPLODES! Prices Jump 2.8% in HUGE Rebound!
Did you know UK average house prices just saw their biggest January jump since 2015, surging by 2.8% and adding nearly £10,000 to the average home's value? This dramatic rebound, fueled by a robust "Boxing Day bounce," saw buyer demand skyrocket by 57% and newly-listed homes jump by 81% post-Christmas. Property expert Colleen Babcock from Rightmove highlighted renewed seller confidence as a key driver for listing homes at higher prices. However, despite this initial surge, Rightmove urged caution, noting that the number of available homes for sale is at its highest since 2014, with a third of existing listings seeing price reductions. Moreover, regional disparities persist, with prices falling in the East Midlands and Scotland even as most regions see gains. On a more positive note, affordability is improving as mortgage rates continue to decline, now at their lowest since before the disruptive 2022 mini-Budget. Yet, according to Matt Smith, the financial markets don't anticipate further Bank of England rate cuts until the second quarter.
